HubSpot vs Pipedrive: Prices, Automation Limits, Email and Migration
By Michael Oskola, Founder & AI Automation Architect · October 12, 2026 · 13 min read
Pipedrive vs HubSpot comes down to scope. Pipedrive is a sales-first CRM built around a visual pipeline, while HubSpot sells sales, marketing and service as separate Hubs on one CRM. Pipedrive has no free plan, costs $14 to $79 per seat billed annually, and automates from Growth up. HubSpot is free for 2 users, HubSpot Sales Hub Starter lists at $20 per seat, and Professional and Enterprise add a required onboarding fee. Prices checked 12 October 2026.
HubSpot vs Pipedrive at a glance
Every row comes from the vendor's own pricing page, product catalog, terms of service or knowledge base. We read both pricing pages in a US browser, in USD, and re-checked every price on 12 October 2026. Feature and policy details were read on 28 September 2026. Each vendor also publishes a page comparing itself with the other. We don't use those as sources about the rival; what they get wrong is in the last section.
The HubSpot column is Sales Hub, the product a sales team buys. HubSpot also sells a cheaper Smart CRM line with different prices, so check which one a review is quoting.

How much do HubSpot and Pipedrive cost?
The tiers don't line up one to one, so the table pairs them by their place in each price list. That pairing is ours, not either vendor's. Pipedrive's Growth and Premium both sit across from HubSpot Professional because HubSpot has one middle tier and Pipedrive has two.
Pipedrive charges per seat, "whether it's assigned to a user or not", and its prices exclude VAT. Annual billing is paid up front: Lite is "One payment of US$ 168 per seat/year".
HubSpot's Starter prices of $7 and $10 are a promo shown next to the $20 list price, which comes from HubSpot's Product & Services Catalog. When we read the page on 28 September, HubSpot described the offer as for new customers. The promo has its own column so the table still works when it ends.
One HubSpot rule changes the bill for mixed teams. The catalog says that if you own a mix of Starter, Professional and Enterprise products, all your Core Seats "will be priced based on the highest level of your subscription services." Buy one Professional Hub and every Core Seat is billed at Professional.
Old reviews name Pipedrive plans Essential, Advanced, Professional and Power. Pipedrive renamed and repackaged them in 2025, so those prices no longer apply.

Is Pipedrive cheaper than HubSpot for a 5-person sales team?
It depends on the tier. Against HubSpot Starter, Pipedrive costs more once you need automations. Against HubSpot Professional, Pipedrive Premium costs about half in the first year.
Licenses are one line of the budget. Setup and migration cost money on either platform; our own ranges are in what a CRM implementation costs.
Here is our arithmetic from the prices above, not a vendor quote: five sellers who need automated follow-ups, before tax, add-ons, top-ups and SMS.
- Pipedrive Growth, the first plan with automations: 5 × $39 = $195 a month billed annually, which is $2,340 paid up front and not refundable. Billed monthly it's 5 × $49 = $245.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at list: 5 × $20 = $100 a month, or 5 × $7 = $35 at the promo on annual billing. Starter has 50 workflows "with restricted triggers and actions" and no sequences.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Professional: 5 × $90 × 12 = $5,400, plus $1,500 onboarding, so $6,900 in the first year on annual billing.
- Pipedrive Premium for the same team: 5 × $59 × 12 = $3,540 in the first year, with no onboarding fee.
Which has better automation, HubSpot or Pipedrive?
At the cheapest paid tier HubSpot has some automation and Pipedrive has none. One tier up, HubSpot allows more.
Pipedrive's knowledge base says automations are "only available on Growth and higher plans" (checked 12 Oct 2026). Its usage limits page caps automations per company at 50 on Growth, 150 on Premium and 250 on Ultimate, with up to 3, 10 and 20 if/else conditions per automation. Email sequences are capped at 5, 25 and 50 per company. Pipedrive sells extra automations in packs of 50 from Growth up, but the price of those packs isn't on any page we read.
HubSpot Sales Hub Starter allows "up to 50 workflows with restricted triggers and actions". Professional allows "up to 300 fully customizable workflows", and Enterprise up to 1,000 (https://www.hubspot.com/pricing/sales, checked 12 Oct 2026). Sequences start on Professional.
Our reading: a five-seat team on Pipedrive Growth gets 50 automations for the whole company. The same team on HubSpot Professional gets 300 and pays more for them.
Can Pipedrive do email marketing?
Yes, as a paid add-on on every plan. Pipedrive Lite doesn't even sync your inbox.
Pipedrive's plan matrix lists email sync, templates, open and click tracking and group emailing from Growth up. Lite has none of them. Bulk email marketing is the Campaigns add-on, priced "Starting from $13.33" on the pricing page and billed by subscriber count, from 1,000 to 50,000 in steps of 1,000. A 21-day Campaigns trial covers up to 500 subscribers. We couldn't see the price of each subscriber tier; Pipedrive shows those inside the account.
HubSpot Sales Hub Starter includes email tracking and email scheduling. Bulk marketing email in HubSpot is Marketing Hub, a separate subscription. We've compared HubSpot's Marketing Hub prices in another post.
Record limits, pipelines and custom fields
Pipedrive caps leads and deals. HubSpot caps pipelines and, on the free plan, contacts.
Pipedrive's knowledge base sets "no usage limits for contacts", but leads plus deals are capped per seat, and "the absolute maximum number of leads and deals allowed in a company account is 300,000" (checked 12 Oct 2026). Pipedrive's own comparison page ticks "Unlimited data storage". Storage and record counts are different things, so plan around the caps below. Pipelines, a products catalog, the API and webhooks come on all four Pipedrive plans.
| Limit | Pipedrive (Lite / Growth / Premium / Ultimate) | HubSpot Sales Hub (Free / Starter / Professional / Enterprise) |
|---|---|---|
| Leads and deals | 2,500 / 5,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 per seat, 300,000 per company at most | We didn't check a HubSpot deal limit |
| Contacts | No limit | Free plan: 1,000. Paid tiers: not checked |
| Pipelines | On all plans | 1 per object / 15 / 100 / 350 per account |
| Custom fields | 30 / 100 / 300 / 500 per company | 10 in total on Free, then 1,000 per object |
| Products catalog | On all plans | Up to 100 on Free, up to 1 million from Starter |
Forecasting, scoring, calling and SMS
Pipedrive puts forecasting lower in its price list than HubSpot does. Pipedrive has a forecast view from Growth, custom scoring and company data enrichment from Premium, and contact enrichment on Ultimate only. HubSpot lists forecasting and lead scoring from Professional, and a predictive deal score from Starter.
Calling. Pipedrive's plan matrix lists automatic call logging and web-to-mobile calls on every plan. HubSpot includes 500 calling minutes per account a month on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 12,000 on Enterprise, and says calling isn't supported in all countries.
Texting on HubSpot is an add-on. The catalog sells a Sales and Service SMS Add-On for $75 a month with 1,000 message segments, for Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise only. It sends only from US numbers to US and Canada (+1) numbers (https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog, checked 12 Oct 2026). We didn't check Pipedrive's texting options, so we make no claim either way.
Support and integrations
Support. Pipedrive's plan matrix gives chatbot support on every plan and live chat from Growth. Phone support is for Premium and Ultimate. HubSpot gives Free users the knowledge base and community, adds chat and email on Starter, and phone on Professional and Enterprise. In HubSpot accounts created on or after March 5, 2024, a user needs an assigned Core, Sales or Service seat to reach support, and HubSpot says phone support is English only.
Integrations. Pipedrive's pricing page says "500+ integrations". HubSpot's CRM page says you can connect "over 2,000 popular business apps".
Can you move from Pipedrive to HubSpot, or back?
Yes, both ways. Into HubSpot there's a built-in tool that names Pipedrive. Into Pipedrive you export CSV files from HubSpot and import them.
Pipedrive to HubSpot: HubSpot's Smart Transfer lists Pipedrive as a source and is available on all HubSpot plans. Only Super Admins can run it, the transfer is one way into HubSpot, and "You must have a Data Hub subscription to transfer custom field mappings." Pipedrive is the worked example on HubSpot's help page: Pipedrive has several close-date fields, and Smart Transfer creates a workflow that fills HubSpot's single Close date from the right one (https://knowledge.hubspot.com/integrations/transfer-data-from-other-apps-using-hubspot-smart-transfer, read 28 Sep 2026). The page lists workflows among the data types it handles but doesn't say which Pipedrive automations come across, so check each one after the transfer.
HubSpot to Pipedrive: Pipedrive's own migration guide has you export each HubSpot object type to CSV and import it with Pipedrive's spreadsheet importer. It recommends the order Organizations, Persons, Deals, Leads, Activities, then Notes, and a test import of 5 to 10 records first (https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/hubspot-to-pipedrive-migration, updated 23 Sep 2026). The names change on the way: a HubSpot contact is a Pipedrive person, a company is an organization, and a custom property is a custom field. The guide doesn't cover workflows, so you rebuild them as Pipedrive automations.
An import moves records. It won't tell you whether deal history, owners and custom fields arrived intact. We wrote up what breaks in a CRM migration from our own migration work.
Contracts, cancellation and refunds
Pipedrive doesn't refund, and HubSpot Professional locks you in for a year.
Pipedrive bills monthly or annually and renews automatically. Its terms say "All Fees are non-refundable", and its knowledge base says annual subscriptions "can't be refunded because they're prepaid": after cancelling you keep access until the term ends. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, and the terms warn it may cause "the loss of Client Data." Cancel, and you lose access to your data; Pipedrive's help center says accounts cancelled for six months are deleted.
Pipedrive's pages disagree on free implementation help. The pricing page FAQ says "implementation is free when you sign up for a pricing plan that's over $400 a year" (read 12 Oct 2026). The onboarding page offers it to customers spending "over $1000", meaning monthly recurring spend (read 28 Sep 2026). We wouldn't budget on it until Pipedrive confirms it in writing.
HubSpot Starter commits monthly. Professional commits annually, even when you pay monthly, and Enterprise is billed annually.
If you handle patient data, Pipedrive's terms say its services "are not designed to comply with" HIPAA, and HubSpot signs a BAA only on Enterprise. The details are in which CRMs sign a HIPAA BAA.
What are the disadvantages of Pipedrive and HubSpot?
Going only by each vendor's own pages:
- Pipedrive has no free plan, only a 14-day trial.
- Pipedrive Lite has no automations and no email sync. Both start on Growth.
- Pipedrive charges for email marketing on every plan, and caps leads plus deals at 300,000 per company.
- Pipedrive's annual plans are paid up front and not refundable.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise need a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500 or $3,500, and Professional commits you for a year.
- HubSpot Starter's workflows have restricted triggers and actions, and texting needs Professional plus a $75-a-month add-on.
When to choose HubSpot, and when to choose Pipedrive
Pick Pipedrive if a small team only sells and wants automations without an onboarding fee. Pick HubSpot if you want to start free, or marketing and service will run in the same system.
Either way, someone has to map your pipeline, move the data and build the automations. Both CRMs have an API and webhooks (Pipedrive on all four plans), and neither vendor rebuilds your automations for you when you switch. That's the work we do. We compare HubSpot, Monday.com, Zoho and Pipedrive against how your team actually sells, then set up the one that fits. If Zoho or Monday.com is the other name on your list, see HubSpot vs Zoho CRM and HubSpot vs Monday.com.
- Choose HubSpot if you want to start free. The free plan covers 2 users and 1,000 contacts.
- Choose Pipedrive if a small team needs automated follow-ups on a budget. For five sellers, Premium costs $3,540 in the first year against $6,900 for HubSpot Professional with onboarding.
- Choose HubSpot if marketing and service will live in the same system. Its Hubs share one CRM, but each one is a separate subscription.
- Check the caps before choosing Pipedrive if each seller works a lot of deals. Leads plus deals are capped per seat, from 2,500 on Lite to 20,000 on Ultimate.
- Choose HubSpot if you're leaving Pipedrive and want a built-in import. Smart Transfer names Pipedrive. Moving the other way means CSV files.
What the vendors' own comparison pages get wrong
HubSpot publishes https://www.hubspot.com/comparisons/pipedrive-vs-hubspot (its table compares Sales Hub Professional with Pipedrive Ultimate, "as of August 2026"). Pipedrive publishes its own page about HubSpot. Here is what each says about the other, next to the other vendor's own pages (comparison pages read 28 Sep 2026).
- HubSpot's page marks Pipedrive as having no "Native Data Enrichment". Pipedrive's plan matrix lists organization data enrichment on Premium and Ultimate, and contact data enrichment on Ultimate.
- HubSpot's table ticks "Native Calling" for Pipedrive and crosses "Native SMS & Calling" on the same page. Pipedrive's plan matrix lists call logging and web-to-mobile calls on all plans.
- Pipedrive's page prices HubSpot at "$0-$75" per seat with a "$15" minimum paid plan. Those are HubSpot's Smart CRM prices. HubSpot Sales Hub Starter lists at $20, with a $7 or $10 promo.
- Pipedrive's page ticks "Free chat support" for HubSpot. HubSpot's help center says free accounts get the knowledge base and community, and chat starts on Starter.
- AI answers repeat a price no vendor page shows. When we asked Google's AI Overview and ChatGPT "hubspot vs pipedrive" on 28 September 2026, both said HubSpot Sales Hub starts at $9. None of HubSpot's pricing pages we read shows $9.
